Agistri
Agistri is a smaller and less touristy island, making it a peaceful escape. The island has lovely beaches, hiking trails, and a laid-back vibe. Skala is the main village with tavernas and bars. Dragonera beach has turquoise water. While Skala organized beach is more “family-friendly” because of its shallow waters, Aponisos beach has a wild beauty and it's a natural appaggio for the yachts. Of course, it would be a shame to miss the traditional Megalochori or Metochi, a village located on top of a hill with a spectacular view and traditional houses.
Spetses
Spetses is known for its historical significance and upscale atmosphere. The town of Spetses features beautiful mansions and a maritime museum. The island is famous for the annual Armata Festival, commemorating a historic naval battle against the Ottoman Empire.
Poros
Poros consists of two main islands, Sferia and Kalavria, connected by a narrow strait. The town of Poros, on Sferia, features neoclassical architecture, a clock tower, and lively waterfront cafes. It's a great place for a leisurely stroll. You need to try the local handmade ice creams. There are so many little shops with hundreds of recipes that you won't know where to start. But they are so delicious!
Hydra
Hydra is famous for its charming, car-free main town, Hydra Town (also known as Ydra or Idra). The island's elegant architecture, cobblestone streets, and picturesque harbor create a unique and romantic atmosphere. Donkeys are the primary means of transportation here. Andreas Miaoulis, a hero, the admiral who commanded the Greek naval forces was from Hydra. Miaoulia, the festival to honor Miaoulis, takes place every year in the last week of June and is considered the largest event on the island.
Aegina
Aegina is the closest of the Saronic Gulf islands to Athens, making it a popular day trip destination. It's known for its beautiful beaches, pistachio nuts (a local specialty), and the stunning Temple of Aphaia, a well-preserved ancient Greek temple. She is also an ideal destination for day cruises for larger groups and events like incentives, team builings and wedding parties. Don’t forget to taste and buy local pistachio products! Aegina’s pistachios are the best!
